I have never left a negative review on any business— I hate the idea of it. But my experience of this establishment is always very poor. My last experience included a gel removal whereby the nails were pried off, completely damaging my natural nails. This experience was super painful too. Every other experience at this salon has been extremely rushed, painful or stressful. No sense of customer service and the techs can be quite rude to be honest. I do not recomment

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but this experience has genuinely put me off returning, and I feel compelled to share it so others are aware before visiting.

I don’t live locally, but as I originally had my acrylics done at Alex Nails, I decided to go back there for removal. That was a mistake.

After cutting the acrylics down and using the drill, the technician then began trying to prise them off rather than soaking them properly. This is widely known to damage natural nails. I was clearly uncomfortable (which was obvious, as he kept looking up at me while doing it) and eventually had to ask him to use acetone, which he only did for eight nails.

For the remaining two, he continued to forcibly prise them off, claiming they had “cracks,” which made no sense and completely ignored the discomfort I had already expressed.

After soaking, the service became very rushed as it was close to closing time. He filed what he considered the “remaining” acrylic off and then told me to wash my hands, which appeared to be the end of the service. No aftercare was offered until I specifically asked for cuticle oil, which should be standard.

On closer inspection, there was still visible acrylic left on my nails. When I pointed this out, I was dismissed and told it was the “oil,” which was clearly incorrect.

Only after I challenged this was I offered for him to use the drill again, but by that point I no longer felt comfortable continuing.

This approach falls below standard industry practice and raises concerns about the level of care provided to clients.

Overall, the service felt rushed, careless, and dismissive. Basic removal practices were not followed, my concerns were not properly listened to, and the condition of my natural nails was clearly not a priority.

While my initial experience getting my nails done there was positive (I loved my cat eye nails), this removal experience was poor enough that I will not be returning.

Been a few times for acrylic nails and it’s pot luck whether or not you get a decent set. Get the feeling that the techs are sometimes in a bit of a rush. I didn’t notice until I left how bad my set was (so that’s my fault), they were all wonky and the builder gel was very thick, so I ended up getting them fixed elsewhere. The colours on the sample nails are also way off- a lot of times you’ll pick a colour and it will be completely different on your nails. Can accommodate walk ins which is great in a pinch but would go somewhere else if you have the time.

- Edited review: I was far too nice when I left this review, forgot to mention that my fingers were also bleeding by the end. I’m not the type of person to make a fuss and was actually quite upset that I didn’t stand up for myself. When I went to the other salon to get them fixed they couldn’t believe the state they were in- they were completely uneven and incredibly thick. I get that times are tough and people can be rude, but getting my nails done is a treat I can’t regularly afford. Would seriously suggest going five minutes up the road and paying an extra tenner for a much better service.

I’m very disappointed by the service provided. So unorganised. Was there for an hour, didn’t even acknowledge the fact i’m sat waiting was busy with new customers walking in. When they finally served me they were rushing and being harsh. “you have to wait 3 minutes” turned into 25 minutes.

Amazing service and very friendly staff. They were incredibly accommodating when I changed my mind and made sure I was happy with the final result. The cat eye manicure turned out absolutely beautiful. I’m very pleased with the experience and would definitely recommend this salon!
