I decided to try So.Shell after seeing their ads all over Instagram — the “meticulous Russian manicure” they promote looked amazing, and I was genuinely excited. The price is almost double a normal salon, but honestly, I would have happily paid that for the premium experience they promise.

I did arrive 30 minutes late — that’s on me. I called twice to let them know, but no one picked up. When I arrived, they agreed to take me, which I appreciated. They mentioned I would only be able to get an express manicure without cuticle work, which I thought was fair.

Unfortunately, from there, the experience went downhill. My technician didn’t even say hello. I wasn’t offered a drink — not even water — and there was no mention at all of the “care” they advertise, like the protective gloves.

I asked for my nails (which were all the same length and almond-shaped) to be cut shorter and made round. Instead, I left with uneven lengths and inconsistent shapes. I tried to point it out once — one nail was adjusted, but the rest were ignored.

The colour I chose wasn’t available because it was empty, so I had to pick another one on the spot.

To top it off, I was charged for a full manicure, even though I was told I would only receive an express service. The cuticle work was not done properly — they were simply pushed back, not meticulously treated as expected. There was no communication on the change else I would have said something and found everyone pretty rude. Considering the girl cut me with the file I found the full charge ridiculous.

Also worth noting: the salon was completely empty, so my being late didn’t seem to impact their schedule at all or have any reason to rush my service.

Overall, So.Shell Battersea was a huge disappointment. Definitely not the premium, detail-oriented experience they advertise, definitely not going back or worth the hype. Stay away!

I’ve been a loyal client of this salon for two years and I genuinely love the masters here — they are incredibly professional and talented. That’s what makes today’s experience so disappointing.
I was running late to my appointment (I visited the Battersea Power Station location and mixed up the entrance, so I had to walk around the building). When I arrived, the hostess Vera immediately began shouting at me. There was no smile, no attempt to help — just passive aggression. She told me the master couldn’t complete all my services and dismissed me when I tried to explain what happened.
When I mentioned that I’ve been a client for two years and we’ve always found a solution, she responded: “If you’ve been a client for two years, you should know the rules.” When I explained I got lost, she said: “If you’ve been a client for two years, how can you get lost?” — as if having multiple salon locations in different areas isn’t a thing.
I asked to speak with a manager. Vera refused.
Afterward, I reached out via Instagram to describe what happened. Vera then came back to me visibly angry — apparently whoever read my message forwarded it directly to her. She started shouting again, calling me rude and hysterical. It felt intimidating. No manager ever contacted me.
For context: during my last visit to the Chelsea location, I waited 40 minutes for my appointment without complaint. There have also been times when services were canceled on arrival because the salon forgot to notify me, and I handled it with understanding. I’ve always treated this salon with patience and respect. I did not receive the same today.
The master, as always, did a wonderful job and completed all the services perfectly. My issue is entirely with how I was treated by the front desk.
I hope the owners see this and take appropriate action. Every client deserves to be treated with basic respect.

Nobody contact me. You can draw your own conclusions about how important clients are to this salon.
