I feel sad having to write this as I have been coming to this nail bar for over 10 years and never gone anywhere else. Majority of the time my nails are always done very beautifully but the last few times iv had several problems, the acrylic paint all peeling and chipping after a few days and then today I ask for my nails to look as natural as possible and for a small flower design, she didn’t seem to know how to do it and then had to wipe the design off 4 times and then on the 5th I just didn’t want to say that it still wasn’t right and she seemed abit annoyed. It didn’t look anything like what I asked for. my nails also had been left far to thick and wide when I had asked for natural
Square. They don’t look natural at all, I was having my nails done as it’s my sons birthday party on Monday and now I have no time to change them.

All the staff were super friendly! My design was quite detailed and they even helped suggest how to reduce the cost. All their work was thorough and gentle, the male technician is so talented. Thank you so much!! 🥰

I am so pleased with my nails. I walked into the salon on Saturday and was seen immediately. I had builder gel and a French polish. The whole process was quick and very professionally done. My nails look amazing. Friendly and welcoming staff. Very pleased would highly recommend. Thank you.

It was my first visit and I had a male technician who did an amazing job! He helped me choose the right colour and made sure the design was correct from the reference picture. The environment was relaxing and the ladies working there were also welcoming and friendly. Thank you for my new set! I’ll come back again :)

I had an acrylic infill with gel and reshape and I am very happy with my nails; they paid good attention to detail and did a thorough job. Most importantly they make sure you get what you asked for and check the length, shape and colour is right.
The atmosphere was friendly, the salon was clean and the price is very fair :)

I had a very bad experience with them. I removed polish and did a new one, the quality of the colour and finished was bad and when I mentioned to the lady, she got defensive. I did them yesterday Nov 3th and they're already pealing off as it was poorly done.
You also cannot by cash which is an inconvenience, definitely not recommended.

I visited on Mon, 3 Nov 2025 for Take Off Acrylic + Gel Polish on Hand with Take Off at Beautique Nails & Beauty, 101 King St, Cambridge.

Pros: My nail technician, Anna, was good: skilled, gentle, and friendly. Was going to give a good review.

Cons (reason for 1★): There was no clear notice in the salon, nor any mention in my booking confirmation/email or on the website, that they don’t accept card payments (cash or UK bank transfer only). I even saw customers leaving after checkout to fetch cash. At the till I was told to make a UK bank transfer—I’m a visitor, my bank takes time to verify new payees, and I couldn’t withdraw cash with my card. When I queried this, a staff member (name sounded like Vicki) was dismissive, saying they’re a small local shop and suggesting an ATM. When I asked about prior notice, she said they have informed the owners, and the owners don't want to do it. I ultimately had to ask my UK-based daughter to transfer £75 on my behalf. This stress could have been avoided with clear, upfront information.

Constructive suggestions:
Put prominent signage at entrance/reception: “Cash/Bank Transfer Only — No Cards”.
Add the same notice in the online booking flow, confirmation emails, and reminders.

Crucially, brief staff to proactively tell every customer before services begin that cards are not accepted, especially for visitors.

Bottom line: Fantastic nails by Anna, but the undisclosed no-card policy and offhand response at checkout turned a positive visit into a stressful one. Posting this to warn future customers: confirm payment methods before your appointment.

I an aware that In the UK, businesses can choose payment methods, but payment terms are “material information.” Not disclosing them clearly before a customer commits may amount to a misleading omission under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. Clear, upfront disclosure protects both customers and the business.
