Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match what a lot of these other reviews suggest on here. My wife and I visited as part of a gift package that included the spa and a meal in the Brasserie (which, honestly, was very, very poor).
The setting itself is lovely, but the spa was really underwhelming. It felt tired and in need of serious attention. There was rotting wood on cupboards, mould on the air vents by the pool and just felt dirty in multiple places. The sauna wasn’t much better, bits of rubble on the floor, wood at the bottom that looked like it was starting to rot, and lighting so bright it completely ruined any chance of relaxing.
The pool and relaxation area were probably the worst part. There’s barely anywhere to sit, and the smell of chlorine was overpowering, strong enough that I didn’t even want to get in the water. Some of the fittings also looked rusty, which didn’t look great! Even something as simple as the water fountains felt neglected, they looked dirty and were wobbling when you tried to use them. The poor quality supplied towels & gown need updating, just a poor level of detail at every single part of the experience.
The only positive for us was the mud treatment, which we actually enjoyed, even though it was self-applied.
Overall, this just didn’t feel like a premium experience at all, especially given the setting and expectations. Sadly, we wouldn’t return.

Really regret having to write this, but our experience at The Devonshire Arms spa was very disappointing. We had seen reviews from years ago saying the place needed a facelift — and unfortunately it doesn’t seem like much has changed.

The overall cleanliness was poor. Some of the lockers were broken, the changing areas felt dirty, and when I went to use the toilet there was no toilet paper. While the pool itself was quite nice, the steps leading down to it were grotty and didn’t feel well maintained. The taps and fixtures looked rusty and honestly seemed like they were hanging on by a thread.

We ended up leaving after just 15 minutes because the whole place felt pretty run down and not at all the standard of cleanliness you’d expect from a spa. It was especially frustrating as we had travelled all the way from Manchester for the visit.

A real shame as we were looking forward to a relaxing experience.

Had a great afternoon here recently, made all that more special by the attentiveness of staff members, Hannah & Gabrielle.

Whilst initially unsure what to expect, I found the spa to be very soothing and pleasant. The robes were comfy, water with fruit in was pleasant and appreciated, and the amenities were enjoyable and relaxing. The temperature of the spa felt amazing, especially in winter!

Amazing place for relaxation! Decent size swimming pool, sauna and the treatments were excellent. All staff polite and professional and had 6 hours there to use facilities in a timely manner
Shower and changing rooms for both men and women are upstairs

Would reccomend
