Ashleigh is by far the best hairdresser I have ever been to. Would highly recommend her to anyone. The other ladies in the salon are also lovely and make you feel so welcome.

All the girls at Velve are lovely. I have had treatments of most of them and I always recommend them to friends and family. Charlottes nail work/art is incredible and she’s been my go to for lashes for the last 3 years

Been to Charlotte for my nails for years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else! Now well into my BIAB journey and the monthly catch ups are a great treat after a busy day at work and I get compliments on my nails with every new set!

Charlotte and her team are genuinely the best in the area (IMO). I’ve been going to Charlotte for the last 4 or 5 years for acrylic nails and hybrid lashes , and I’ve also had lashes and makeup done by Cara at Velve - it’s such a friendly environment. Charlotte literally nails it every time, she’s so talented and I wouldn’t go anywhere else :)

Wasn't made aware of a cancellation fee.

I called for my younger sister to have her hair done for prom roughly a week before prom. Whilst talking on the phone the lady sounded disinterested. But an appointment was booked for 2pm. She asked for my sisters number and name so I gave them. Thinking she would call her at some point during the week to confirm the appointment. I asked my sister if she called and she told me she never did. So she decided she was going to do her own hair for prom.

The day of prom an hour before the appointment she was sent a text message asking if she was coming. No phone call a text message. My sister didn't answer straight away because she went to a college open day. The salon then calls her an hour later. She says she doesn't want the appointment anymore. And is then met with a barge of unprofessional text messages. Saying she has to pay a cancellation fee and that she ignored her purposely at 1pm. The lady at the salon also sends me messages saying we have to pay half of what is owned her. The message was snarky and not at all what I'd expect from a salon. I wasn't made aware of a cancellation fee prior and a deposit wasn't made.

I paid the money to get her off my sisters back as she was getting upset and she was already stressed for prom so I wanted to defuse the situation. But was told by family and friends she didn't really have any grounds to ask for the money since no deposit was made. Told her I sent the money and no reply was given after that. Guess they got the money.

Now we made a mistake by not cancelling the appointment prior. But the lack of professionalism is appalling.

I recommend not calling in to book with this salon. Maybe the experience would have been different in person.

Hello, I’m really disappointed to read this review.

You called the salon to make an appointment, which was booked in as you said for 2pm.

We took a contact number as we always do Incase of anything we need to contact you about, since the appointment was confirmed already on the phone there is no need for us to re contact you and re confirm. You agreed to the time etc so as far as we were aware this appointment was booked in.

The hairdresser then sent a text as she has fun ahead of herself to let you know her could come earlier, no response. She then waited to the appointment time and there was no sign of her, she called her with no answer, then received this message “Sorry I don’t want my hair doing anymore if that’s okay’ - this is a no show. To say it’s because we didn’t ring again after you had booked an appointment is unfair as this isn’t something we would ever do, you confirmed the time was okay on the phone and gave details we asked for.

The stylist then sent this message “ Hey , this is Ella from VELVE, you rang up on 15th june to book your sister in for today at 2pm , I messaged at 1pm to see if she could come earlier and got no reply so I've sat and waited until 2:15pm and then I've rang to see if she's on her way, she's text back saying she doesn't want the appointment anymore, I do actually run a 48hour notice policy as if I get a cancellation or no show in that time frame I'm unable to fill the appointment, therefore loosing money which is my wage...

She could of even replied at 1pm to tell me instead of ignoring the message at least then I wouldn't of been sat here waiting...
I also asked if she had thick hair and you said yes so I booked out a further 30 mins for the appointment meaning I've wasted 1 hour and 30mins which I could of given to someone else as I've actually had to turn other clients away.

I didn't take a deposit as I just assumed someone wouldn't no show on their prom day...

I do charge 50% of the appointment cost for no shows/last min cancellation, which would mean I'm owed £15 today,
I'd appreciate if you could send this via bank transfer please.

This isn’t rude at all and completely fair for her to say. For your sister to decide she just didn’t want the agreed appointment anymore and not have the courtesy to inform us prior is disrespectful to us and our time. Salons have policy’s as a general now to protect our business and our income- this is how we make a living and ‘deciding you don’t want your hair doing anymore’ with no though to let us know is damaging to our business. This policy is stated all over our social media / Google / etc, Which you will of gone on to get the phone number and book.

And as for what you’ve said regarding the experience you had when calling the salon and the stylish sounding disinterested, I’m very sorry you felt that way. We don’t want anyone to think that when calling, we break off clients to answer the phone and run back to back columns so I’m sorry if you felt the conversation felt rushed. This will be why the deposit was waived as we booked the appointment quickly and had to her back to the clients sat waiting.

I’ve had my nails done with Charlotte a few times and she is fantastic and what she does, her attention to detail is second to none and the salon is beautiful , clean and so friendly. Would definitively recommend getting your nails done at ivy rose!

Highly recommend Cara, she has done my Russian lashes a few times and they are the best ever! I also recently got builder gel with Cara and love it!! The salon is gorgeous and the girls are so welcoming and friendly 💗💗
