Good
I had a very disappointing experience and would recommend that anyone considering this place read the existing reviews carefully before booking. Unfortunately, I did not do this beforehand. After my visit, I looked at other reviews and the business’s responses and noticed that several customers had raised concerns and the replies were often quite defensive rather than apologetic, which made my own experience feel less surprising.
I arrived on time for my appointment but had to wait around 10–12 minutes without any acknowledgement or apology.
During the treatment, because I have a sensitive skin condition, I was given plastic gloves and told that next time I should bring my own. This was surprising, as disposable gloves are normally part of standard hygiene practice. Overall, the interaction gave me the impression that the approach was more focused on revenue than on customer care.
During the treatment, the technician asked me several times to reposition my hands, which I understand can be part of the process. However, the final results on my nails were uneven. Some nails turned out fine while others clearly did not, even though my hand position remained the same during the procedure. If my hand position had been incorrect, I would expect the issue to affect all nails rather than only some of them.
When I returned to raise the issue, I felt that I was spoken to in a dismissive and somewhat rude manner. The tone felt patronising rather than helpful.
I also felt uncomfortable when staff members spoke to each other in another language during the interaction. This made the situation feel somewhat excluding and left me unsure whether the conversation was about the situation or about me.
I asked if they could simply soak off the treatment and refund the payment so that I could go elsewhere and have the procedure redone properly. However, this request was refused.
In my view, businesses providing personal care services should be particularly understanding of clients who may have sensitive skin or other conditions. Prioritising respectful communication and customer satisfaction is far more valuable in the long term than taking a purely transactional approach.
Finally, I would encourage customers to check the products and brands used during treatments and make sure they are comfortable with them, particularly if they have health considerations or sensitivities.
Hello. yes your appointment delayed 10mins , she didn't said sorry but she did say to you"thank you for waiting " Only 1 things about your nails is you did not drying them probably that is why few nails( 2 thumbs and maybe baby nails ) the color look uneven near cuticle because when she painted the top coat the base color not dry some of color dragged along by top coat . even when she painted your color she told you so many time put your hand in side but you did not do that . she need said to you, if you didn't dry in color may peel off or you may loss color later it is not her fault . even that you still not listen to her .
Love love my nails.
First time I went there. The man seemed very friendly and he did my nails.Very sharp and defined 💅🏽
Bad customer service. Said they couldn’t do my nails because they were too old and grown out. When they were 3 weeks old for an infill.
Pictures added to prove no nails are peeling or broken. JUST OUTGROWN by 3weeks not even a month.
If this was a bad salon I had previous gone to, & you claim to be a good salon you should have been able to “fix” my badly done nails. Not turn me away due to it being done so badly. That shows you clearly do not have the talent or skills to rectify them. However all that was required was an infill not any fixes.
No need to lie and say they are peeling (you tried to break & lift my nails) I had a witness with me.
Your nails is grown 5-6 weeks old not just 3 weeks. Biab is completely peeling off from the top of your nails. We couldn’t able infill also this set you done from other shop so badly we need take off , can’t able to do infill. We tried explaining but you just want pay for infill so we have refused. We love to give our customers best quality nails and look after their nails. Your friend has her nails done at this time you could able to see the different
Done my nails here a few times. As someone else said, the first visit is decent, but the second and final third time, I felt like my custom was not wanted. The vibe I received the second visit wasn't very encouraging, but I went back again, and it was the older man, who wasn't even doing my nails was very hostile towards me and kept butting in when I was making request, even up to paying at the end... Right there, I knew I would never return to the place again and give them my hard-earned money. Good customer service goes a long way. Clearly people don't care about repeat business. The beautician is always friendly though, but I was there for nails.
EXTREMELY Very very poor customer service. I went to do an infill and feet. They don't greet you when you come in or say thank you and bye.
They sit here like they don't want to be there at all. On top of that, they cut my nails shorter which is fine but he was so rude to me and had attitude when I raised it to him.
I thought I would try a new nail shop as it's near my work out of convenience but I will never be doing that again and sticking to my usual place because the people at Essex nails are so rude and I have never had this experience before at a nail shop. BAD ENERGY.
Do not go here, would not reccomend for the experience or communication.
Very poor customer service. Tried to cancel my appointment today as I had rescheduled for Saturday morning as I had more time and wanted an additional pedicure. I did give over an hour notice. Got told I should of paid in advance even though they ask for cash only. I've used this place for quite a few years and from October have had 3 visits and spent over £140 & was going to spend propably £70 + more Saturday. Also got accused of a no show in June which was factually incorrect as I was running late and received a call from them and I made the appointments 30 minutes later.
A servere lack of customer service and obviously not wanting the business.
Very disappointed to say the least.
You didn’t come on June , your message show clearly. You always book on Setmore all the time you booked pedicures normally color only and you only come every 2-3 months. on our Setmore you could pay by Card or Apple Pay but you called today want change appointment to Saturday. We know you some time coming later even even Saturday you don’t sure you could make it or not. We explain we are more busy on Saturday if you want rebook you need book on Setmore and pay so we know you will come . We are already refunded few time customer in the past waited for you but you didn’t come. We don’t welcome customers like you
Best pedicure in Islington! I've tried many of the beauty saloons in Islington and for pedicure and manicure this is the best one - nowhere else are they as meticulous and thorough as at Essex Nails & Beauty, no matter who is doing the pedicure. There may be a queue but there's a good reason why - they are the best!
Had a pedicure today. Just like my old nail shop so I was happy. Did a great job.
thanks you
I travel across London every time just to get my acrylic nails done at this specific place. My nails last for months, the technicians are professional and friendly. They deserve all the recognition.
thanks you
Miserable atmosphere in here. They barely look you in the eye or even give you a smile No conversation at all. For the nail service it's below standard. I returned as was local this day and they lady doing my nails said you didn't have this done here...as if even she was shocked by the work. I confirmed yes I did she then spoke in her language again rude and unprofessional. She then did my nails and I had to ask her three times to do them shorter..they are still longer than what I wanted. It's a shame as I live so local but two bad experiences so won't return or spend my money there. To the owner questioning if I have the correct place yes I do its essex nails on essex road N1. Sort out your terrible service would give zero if I could
Such a shame I used to frequent this nail shop. But when I entered I wasn’t greeted in a polite way the guy was rude and very sharp. No smiles no hello i actually felt uncomfortable and left to find another nail shop. Avoid.
