I was initially reluctant to post this review, but after giving the salon more than one opportunity to resolve the issue, I feel it’s important to share my experience.
I attended a consultation three days before my appointment and clearly explained that I wanted to transition to an all-over grey colour, with a few darker stripes in. The front of my hair is already naturally white-grey. I asked if this was achievable and was told that it was. I was also advised that the service would cost £250, slightly discounted as it would be carried out by a third-year student. Crucially, I was led to believe that once completed, I would not need to return for ongoing treatments.
Unfortunately, the result was nothing like what I had asked for. The colour is uneven, lacks the clean grey tone discussed, and looks more like an unfinished stage than a completed service. I have attached photos of my hair prior to the colour I requested, and the result I received.
I waited a couple of weeks in case the colour settled, but there was no improvement. I then contacted the salon politely to raise my concerns and arranged to come back in. During this visit, I was told that achieving the result I wanted is actually a gradual process requiring multiple appointments and toner applications, and that the final outcome cannot be guaranteed.
This completely contradicted what I was told during my consultation.
I made it clear that £250 is a significant amount to pay for a result that is so far from what was agreed. I later followed up in writing suggesting that, even as a gesture of goodwill, a corrective appointment including toner and styling could been offered free of charge, instead of basically contradicting what was said and then having the audacity to charge for it!
I then received a response from the owner stating they would apply toner as a goodwill gesture, but would not include a blow-dry, meaning I would have to leave the salon with damp, unstyled hair.
I find this response unacceptable. After paying £250 for a result I did not ask for, I expected a proper effort to put things right. Instead, I feel my concerns have been dismissed.
I would strongly advise others to ensure that expectations are clearly documented before proceeding with this type of service. I have been advised to go to the small claims court now, to obtain a refund.
