I’m sorry to hear you felt unhappy with your experience. I always aim to provide the highest standard of care, and at every appointment I advised that builder gel requires 2–3 week maintenance. Builder gel is a soft, flexible product and isn’t as durable as acrylic, which you previously had, so wearing it for 4 weeks or longer can naturally lead to lifting or other issues. I explained this each time so we could prevent problems and keep your nails healthy. Some nail types also simply don’t get on with builder gel, which can contribute to lifting regardless of technique.

Regarding edges and lifting: I apply products according to manufacturer guidelines to avoid flooding the skin, as this can actually cause lifting. This method has been effective for my clients, and I haven’t received similar concerns from others.

The green discoloration you experienced is known as a pseudomonas “greenie.” This happens when moisture becomes trapped between the natural nail and the enhancement, creating the right conditions for pseudomonas bacteria to develop. This is more likely when nails are worn beyond the recommended time or if aftercare isn’t fully followed.

As stated in my policies, removals are only offered when followed by a fresh set to ensure they are done safely.
