Spa Day Experience (£145 pp) - disappointing condition.
My best friend and I booked a Hellidon Lakes Spa Day, which included lunch, a 50-minute treatment and all day use of the spa facilities.
The location is great, rolling Northamptonshire countryside, beautiful views, easy parking. Staff are friendly and well-meaning. BUT:
The building has many serious maintenance issues! Throughout the spa area there are small and massive patches of black mould, peeling paint, ceilings dripping water and even green moss growing on the inside of the building. The women‘s changing room smells very mouldy.
The interior design is dated and drab despite it being recently done up.
The spa area with pool and sauna/steam rooms is well thought out, but there are tiles missing in the pool, broken seats in the salt sauna, mould in the showers and the overall impression was dirty (especially the glass of the saunas) and uncared for (no one clearing away plastic cups or puddles of water and abandoned towels).
The lunch was underwhelming (leaves with dressing and hardly any of the main ingredients listed), the restaurant area was cold (not fun when you’re wet).
The treatments were nice and I have to say that the staff seem to be doing their best, but some seemed not to have a clue what they were serving us. Fresh towels were always available.
I think many people are overlooking these issues because they don’t want to be rude to the kind staff (I didn’t give them this feedback on the day because I was there to relax and enjoy time with my friend). But the sad truth is, I will not be going back and I cannot recommend it to others. Shame, could be such a gem!

Visited Helidon spa this week, a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Sian made us feel very comfortable and took care of us very attentively throughout. My therapist Sadia was excellent, I had a mini facial and back next and shoulder massage and this was 10/10. Some of the facilities could do with freshening up but everything was working and clean. The views across rolling countryside when you’re using the spa facilities are breathtaking. We had a great day and would return - thank you!

Spa amazing, pastries and juice on arrival, ordered lunch an prosecco for birthday girl, treatments doted out through day for 6 of us, amazing delicious lunch with 5 chocies, big thank you to Dabielle who did my treatment, so thorough, chats but quiet when relaxing - would request her again - Thank you Danielle. Reception lady am great and gentlemen pm gor more shampoos and displayed them looking great

The place was filthy, black mold in most corners, flies in the shower area, no hand soap in the toilets, damp carpets along the corridor. Needs some serious updating and care. I felt so uncomfortable and cancelled after an hour of trying to ignore how disgusting it all felt.
No apology given and we spent a long time trying to chase a refund. Have never been so disappointed in a spa experience.

Had a spa break package here for Valentine’s Day and I have to say this is the best spa I’ve been to!!
The spa itself is heavenly, plenty of different sauna and steam rooms which are all different, a gorgeous heated pool aswell! It was so modern and clean with a beautiful view. We both had a massage package and the 2 ladies we had were so sweet and lovely, they really made us have the best experience. The food was also absolutely delicious! The staff were so amazing, especially the lady behind the desk and the gentleman behind the bar, very welcoming and lovely staff members! Couldn’t recommend coming here more, the most perfect, relaxing weekend away! Will 100% be back soon :) Thank you!!!
