Took my daughter for braids after booking with Sophie direct to her personal mobile as I’d done three times before. For the second time with no agreement or discussion with me she’d apparently booked a different woman to do my daughter’s hair. Arrived at the salon, asked for Sophie to be looked at oddly and told she wasn’t working today. The other lady had just started doing a man’s box braids and told me she could do my daughter’s hair in about an hour.

I contacted Sophie who said she ‘thought’ it was ok to book my daughter with someone else, to which I advised that she didn’t do a good job last time, which she knew as she charged me less than Sophie would. As we were going on holiday the next day and had travelled for 30 mins to get there I had no time for an alternative.

I agreed the lady could do it but we’d do box braids this time, which she was doing on the man’s hair and the parts she’d done on his so far were small and perfect so I had more confidence that that style would be better.

We came back an hour later and two women started my daughter’s hair. I had to ask for mousse to be added and her hair to be dried. I also had to bead all of the 20 braids myself which should be included - I always supply beads but I shouldn’t have had to finish the style off myself.

Overall they were just rushing as it was the end of the day and on closer inspection when I got home I was shocked at how bad it was. The parts were terrible and totally uneven, the sections were too big, some had rubber bands at the root and others didn’t.

I contacted Sophie to complain and sent the photos I’ve included here, showing what we got, how I’ve done a better job myself and how another Braider elsewhere has done it for a similar cost (unfortunately she was unavailable). The messages have been read, it’s been two weeks and I’ve had no response.

Totally unprofessional and I should be refunded as requested.

One of the best salons across the north east! I have the same lady do my daughters hair each month very child friendly up beat nice environment staff are lovely too!
