I visited Nail Creations at 662 Fulham Road yesterday because I was taking a self-care day. After the gym and getting my beard shaped up, I walked over to get a pedicure.

For context, I am a Black man, and when I walked into the shop it was full of white, middle-class Caucasian women. As a tall, muscular Black man entering a nail salon, I immediately noticed the looks and the atmosphere shift.

I have been to this establishment once before and the experience was completely different. I was not asked to pay upfront previously. This time, however, the woman at the front desk repeatedly insisted that I pay upfront before any service, even suggesting I pay online. The way it was presented felt completely unnecessary and targeted.

I challenged it because it did not sit right with me. Instead of addressing the concern, the interaction became uncomfortable enough that I decided to leave.

What was supposed to be a simple self-care visit left me feeling disrespected and profiled.

I returned the next day to raise the issue directly. While there, I privately asked one of the customers if she had been asked to pay upfront as well. Instead of answering a simple question, she immediately defended the salon staff, saying they were “nice people,” without even attempting to understand my perspective.

Shortly after, that same customer called the police claiming I was harassing them, while she continued sitting there getting her nails done.

This situation escalated into something it never needed to be. What started as a simple question about inconsistent treatment quickly turned into a situation where a Black man raising a concern was treated as a threat.

In my view, this was blatant discrimination and racism.

Businesses in a diverse community like Fulham should treat customers with respect, consistency, and fairness. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

Find the negative reviews bizarre. Both my mother and I come to Nail Creations for our hands and feet (BIAB / shellac). The team couldn't be more friendly or efficient. Always a smile to welcome the dog, the baby - everyone! I come from Pimlico to have my nails done here as it's the only salon I have found that provides consistently excellent service.

J’ai effectué ma réservation sur internet mais difficile de savoir exactement à quoi correspond chaque prestation (d’autant plus que je suis française). Le site m’indique qu’une certaine Alice s’occuperait de moi, finalement c’est un homme qui me prend en charge.
Il ne parle vraisemblablement pas anglais puisqu’il fait des gestes et des bruitages pour me dire quoi faire. On doit se lever nous-même pour se laver les mains, ce qui me surprend d’autant plus que les tarifs ne sont pas donnés - on s’attend à une prestation qualitative.
Ayant l’habitude du savoir faire français, je suis extrêmement choquée de voir l’hygiène de ce salon.. aucun des produits n’est désinfecté entre chaque cliente, les limes sont censées être à usage unique et sont finalement réutilisées sans cesse..
Le monsieur qui s’occupe de moi se trompe de prestation, j’essaie de le lui dire mais il ne me comprend pas / m’entend pas. Heureusement une de ses collèges se rend compte qu’il ne fait pas ce qui a été demandé..
bref un calvaire, moi qui regarde des tutos sur YouTube, ils n’ont aucune maîtrise et les ongles ressemblent à des boudins sans forme.
Le reste du personnel est constamment affalé, à scroller sur leur téléphone, renifle, se retirer les pellicules dans les cheveux, mangent aux yeux des clientes..
bref, à fuir !

Sadly I was excited for my nails to be done today and I am truly disappointed with the result…I paid £40 for a shellac and manicure which is expensive for the treatment I’ve asked which is kind of nail art. I’ve been to Nail creations before, if you looking for a classic manicure shellac is fine but if you want something beyond as nail art that’s NOT the place to go!

The girls are always lovely, and even when I made a mistake with my appointment times, they went above and beyond to accommodate. The team was amazing and I’m truly grateful!

I went in and had a hard gel infill today and I am so happy with the results! The cuticles were done amazingly and with care, no cutting or injury. I also wasn’t sure what color I wanted, and asked for a nude pink that goes with my skin tone. The nail artist did amazingly with my, albeit vague, request and I commend her for it!

Also, I asked for something else originally on my visit, that costs more money, and once I described what I wanted the nail tech offered me an alternative that was cheaper and better for my nails. It shows she wanted what was best for me, and wasn’t just trying to take my money unfairly.

Also, note the salon is cash -only!

So happy and will be going back. (:

I grew out my nails for weeks in anticipation of getting nice almond shaped nails. I told her I wanted almond and she then proceeded to cut my nails super short. I said I wanted them more almond and she said they are too short??? Super disappointed with my stumpy round nails for my holiday. Won’t be coming back.

I booked a £43 luxury pedicure and Alice was in charge of taking care of it. The treatment was supposed to last 1 hour but I had an awful experience because I just received 20 mins of it. Alice was walking around the shop, looking at her phone and her watch and these made me felt like she was in a rush and not caring about what she was doing. During those 20 mins she wasn’t focusing on my feet and suddenly I got cut in one foot and blood came out. She cleaned up the wound with a dirty towel and even worse she didn’t disinfect it. I was there with my sister which had pedicure as well. My sister had a lovely experience instead and she was extremely satisfied with her treatment because she received what she paid for!
