Pregnancy massage. I really don’t enjoy writing negative reviews but I feel so strongly about my negative experience that I felt I should share. I booked a 1 hour 15 minute pregnancy pamper therapy massage with Arlene.
Firstly the time of the appointment was changed last minute the day before (something about the appropriate room not being available - luckily I was on holiday so I could make the amended time), but when I turned up in time for my appointment I had to wait 15 minutes after the agreed start time before the appointment started. The massage started okay and the pressure was good but after half an hour or so I was asked to lie down on my back (almost completely flat with my head hardly raised) for the facial treatment to be applied. The products were applied to my face in about 5 minutes, and then with no explanation Arlene left the room leaving me on my back with my eyes covered. Note that at 32 weeks pregnant you should only be lying in your back for very short periods of time as the weight of your uterus and baby can restrict blood flow and oxygen, plus the reduced lung capacity makes it harder to breathe lying down like this. After about 5-10 minutes I thought it was odd that Arlene hadn’t returned and was really uncomfortable and struggling to breathe on my back. I sat up, took the pads off my eyes and checked the time (conveniently there was a small clock near the massage bed so I knew the time). In total, I was left alone on my back for 25-30 minutes, before Arlene returned and asked what I was doing sitting up. I explained that I couldn’t breathe lying on my back, that I was really uncomfortable and that I genuinely thought she had just left and forgotten about me… Her response… ‘oh you should have said something! - that’s just how this treatment works’… I’m sorry? No. You should not be leaving pregnant people on their back without their upper torso being properly raised up (completely against pregnancy massage guidelines) and you should have said if you were going to leave me there for half an hour. If you really did need to leave the mask on my face for half an hour, then why not make use of the time by providing a foot, leg or hand massage during this time? I felt completely neglected and forgotten.

Not only this, but the appointment then finished about 8 minutes earlier than it should have done.
In short, I paid £66 for a 1 hour 15 minute treatment, when in reality I only got about half an hour. I left the appointment feeling stressed, cheated and generally just really disappointed.

Please - if you’re going to continue offering pregnancy treatments - follow the guidelines and don’t leave pregnant people on their back with no explanation and then try and shift the blame with ‘Oh you should have said something’. (I would have done if I knew where you had gone. I was hardly going to walk out into the waiting room in only my pants to ask what was happening…

Again, I really don’t enjoy writing negative reviews but this experience put such a damper on my holiday, when it should have been a treat. Best avoided.

Luxury spa experience! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first visit to the salon. The entrance was lovely, and on stepping inside it felt so luxe! The smell was amazing.
The reception and nail area, and the treatment room were all beautiful.
Alana was so lovely. She explained the treatment clearly, and gave me the chance to tailor it and ask any questions.
The treatment itself - the new Thai Compress Massage - was fantastic!! 👌🏼 The best massage I’ve ever had. Alana has magic hands. I love that it incorporates face and scalp as well.
I’ve already booked my next treatment.
Thank you 🥰
