Had my nails done for my birthday and was very pleased with Gurlern and her professionalism. I was unsure what to have but went for the classic French tip in the end. Very happy with my nails and definitely be going back.
When I had my nails done, they started lifting and peeling off within just three days. I initially thought it was only happening to me, but after reading previous reviews describing the exact same issue, I realized I'm not alone. Very disappointed!
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, I’m unable to locate any record of this appointment or client in my booking system. I always encourage clients to contact me directly if they experience any issues so I can assess and resolve them appropriately. Without any booking details or prior contact, I’m unable to investigate this further.
A wonderful experience getting biab nails done, cannot wait for my next appointment :)
I would highly recommend Dune & Bloom, everything was explained clearly, a lovely professional environment for getting your nails done, very relaxing and made to feel comfortable straight away.
Thank you so much!
After waiting two and a half hours while my girlfriend had her nails done at a cost of £45, it is wholly unacceptable that several of the nails broke off within just two days. Despite this clear failure in workmanship, no refund has been offered, Her nails will remain in an unacceptable state over the Christmas period. This demonstrates a complete disregard for quality and a deeply inadequate level of customer service. I would strongly urge others to avoid this establishment entirely, unless they are willing to waste their money on substandard work and poor service.
Edit: Reply after owner response
Thank you for your detailed response—it's always enlightening to see a professional's perspective on what constitutes "care, professionalism, and fairness."
To address a few points with clarity:
You mention the pre-existing acrylics (applied in October) caused damage, leading to a snapped nail and bleeding. That's unfortunate, but it doesn't explain why multiple nails from *your* fresh BIAB application failed within 48 hours. BIAB is specifically marketed for its strength and durability on compromised natural nails—yet here we are, with several breaking off almost immediately. If the underlying trauma was so severe that even a careful BIAB overlay couldn't hold, then the professional course would have been to decline the overlay altogether, not proceed while noting the risk and then fall back on "factors" when it predictably failed.
You offered free removal under your 7-day policy—which is appreciated, but rather like a restaurant offering to take back an undercooked meal after it's already made the customer ill and refusing a refund because "policy." Removal helps the nails recover, yes, but it doesn't address the £45 paid for a service that lasted less than two days, nor the fact that they'll now be bare (or ruined) over Christmas. A goodwill gesture would be a partial or full refund; citing booking policy as an immutable shield feels less like fairness and more like a convenient escape clause.
As for the late-night accommodation and kind offer of a lift home. Those were genuinely thoughtful gestures in a tricky situation, and I'm happy to acknowledge them. However, extending basic human decency during an emergency appointment doesn't offset delivering a substandard result on the actual paid service. If anything, going above and beyond on logistics while standing firm on "no refunds ever" creates an odd contrast in priorities.
Ultimately, the nails didn't last a week, let alone the expected 3–4 that BIAB routinely delivers. That's not bad luck or "frequent water exposure" that's a failure of the application to meet even modest standards. Most reputable technicians would recognise this and offer at least a partial refund or free redo without hesitation, especially over the festive period.
I won't be pursuing this further, but I stand by my original warning to others: if you're looking for durable work backed by genuine customer care when things go wrong, you might want to look elsewhere.
Wishing you a peaceful Christmas nonetheless.
Thank you for your feedback. I’m genuinely sorry your girlfriend is experiencing discomfort — that is never something I want for any client.
For clarity, the acrylics your girlfriend arrived with were not my work and had been on since October, which unfortunately resulted in a damaged natural nail when one snapped high up and caused bleeding. This was discussed in full during the appointment.
I professionally advised that the affected nail be left bare to allow it to heal. However, your girlfriend chose to proceed with a BIAB overlay and short extension despite this advice, which I carried out carefully following a full soak-off and gentle prep.
BIAB longevity can be impacted by several factors, including pre-existing nail trauma and frequent water exposure. When contacted, I immediately offered a free removal under my 7-day fix policy, to allow the natural nails to recover. As clearly stated in my booking policies, I do not offer refunds on completed nail services.
I would also like to clarify that this appointment was last-minute due to the client being in significant pain from the already damaged nail and being unable to access her usual nail technician. We accommodated this as an urgent, late-evening appointment, running from approximately 9:30pm until close to midnight, in order to help relieve her discomfort.
At the end of the appointment, when your girlfriend was unable to locate yourself and it was late and dark, we were concerned for her safety and offered to drive her home as a gesture of goodwill. This offer was only declined once you were located nearby.
I always aim to treat my clients with care, professionalism, and fairness, and I believe the support and solutions offered reflect that commitment.
Amazing work! Clean, and precise. Very professional and friendly. I loved my nails with nail art, long lasting. Would go to her again. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much!
Wouldn’t recommend. Came here two days ago and my biab is already coming off on several nails and apparently that’s my fault because I’ve had biab on and blamed it on water exposure even though when I went in September it happened then aswell ? if I would of known it would of only lasted two days I wouldn’t of bothered. What a waste of 45 pound!!! I went there to get a nail off and it’s still in the same condition it was when I went there. Didn’t put any strengthener on it which I thought was odd and didn’t ask but she just said that she puts this base on beforehand??? No refunds on her policy but didn’t put this on her page anywhere otherwise I wouldn’t have gone. Disgusted to say the least. Unless you wanna you wanna be ripped off for what you pay for, I wouldn’t go here. Also I want to add that I’ve had biab on before and it’s never came off after 2/3 days, my friend who’s a nail tech said it also isn’t biab, it’s gel from the looks of it so I’ve been charged for something that isn’t even biab! I’ve spoke to my bank today and they said it’s really bad that she wouldn’t offer a refund as apparently most nail techs do when the customer isn’t satisfied with their nails regardless of a policy that I didn’t even know about until I checked back on the page 2 days after I’d had my nails done (this should be made more clear or told to the customer before going).
Also, the nail that was meant to be fixed after another nail tech had ruined it, wasn't fixed at all and the reason I wanted biab or something on it was to hide it seen as it wasn’t even fixed by Gurleen it just had a pink layer of gel over it, which looked awful but didn’t want to say anything at the time. Wish I hadn’t paid the money now. But I wouldn’t go here because you won’t get your money back if you’re not happy with the look of your nails.
My partner had to wait outside while I was having these done, she said that it would take two hours but my partner was waiting for about three which is why he’d fallen asleep in the car waiting for me! (I also wouldn’t of gone if I would of known it would of taken so long) for taking that long and for charging so much it would be expected to drop me home to be honest🫠
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m genuinely sorry that you’re feeling disappointed — that is never my intention for any client.
To clarify a few points for accuracy: the nail you originally attended for was already damaged and painful due to acrylics that were not my work and had been on since October. This was discussed during your appointment, and I advised that the nail be left bare to allow it to heal. You chose to proceed with a BIAB overlay and short extension despite this professional advice.
BIAB is not a strengthener and is not suitable for repairing trauma to the natural nail. It is a structured base designed for healthy nails, and its longevity can be affected by pre-existing nail damage and frequent water exposure, which was explained during consultation. A base layer was applied as part of the BIAB system used.
When you contacted me after the appointment, I responded promptly and offered a free removal to allow your natural nails to recover comfortably. As clearly outlined in my booking policies, I do not offer refunds on completed nail services.
For clarity, my no-refund policy is clearly displayed on both my Instagram and Facebook pages, which are the platforms used to contact and book with me. I always aim to be transparent, fair, and supportive, and I stand by the care and professionalism provided during your appointment, including accommodating you at short notice due to pain.
Highly recommend. Had my nails done for a family wedding white French tips with silver glitter line which left my nails looking so fresh and perfect with every outfit I wore for the wedding events. Also went back recently for my Christmas nails which I had a combination of red, gold and silver glitter on hands and feet. Both times a highly professional service taking care of the best advice on the care of my nails. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.
Thank you so much!
