I've been here a few times before, and it's definitely not as good as it was. The staff were friendly, the treatment was fine if a bit short. But the pool was freezing, the relaxation room was cold, the free hot water to go with the tea bags was barely tepid. And the pool was full of young children and babies having scheduled activities. It wasn't exactly a relaxing spa day. The sauna and steam room were lovely, and the pool would have been fine, if it was warmer and not full of children. I would have appreciated being warned that my day off, was going to be surrounded by rowdy babies, nursery rhymes, and flotation toys.
Stayed for a few nights really enjoyable special mention to Sophie v on the bar. You were excellent thank you
Wonderful hotel and spa.
Staff were amazing and helpful.
Visited for a spa afternoon for my birthday. Staff were welcoming in the spa and told us what we needed to do and where to go.
We visited the bar which was left unmanned at times and we had to wait quite a while to be served. We had a fisher finger ciabatta which was delicious. Also there was a member of staff discussing the bins and “videoing” it which all just felt really inappropriate.
My massage was absolutely fantastic.
The “spa” itself is very run down and smells of drains. More noticeable within the pool itself and was so off putting I didn’t get back in after the first time. Also the bottom of the pool felt very slimey! The changing rooms are also very dated and small.
It’s not really a “spa day” place but maybe better if you’re stopping by / visiting the area. I would return for the massage but that’s about it. It would have been nice is staff had taken consideration to it being my birthday (especially as I filled out forms with my son on!).
Toddler swim lessons run by 3rd party. Spa is under new management and pool looks to be good so far.
This isn't my first time staying at this hotel, but I usually just come for a day to use the spa. This time I stayed for three nights, so I was able to appreciate the quality of the rooms and breakfast (included in the room rate).
ROOM QUALITY. A nice, spacious room with a safe, hairdryer, tea set, and a safe. The bathroom has not only a shower but also a bathtub. The room was a bit dark for my taste, and the heating didn't work. The staff quickly resolved this issue: they installed a heater for me. I'd especially like to mention the cosmetics provided by the hotel (shampoo, shower and hand gel, etc.) - they're by Prija: they smell great and are of excellent quality, I really liked them.
SERVICE. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I'd especially like to thank Isla O'Callaghan from reception: she's a sweet, helpful girl and you can tell she loves her job. A special thank you to her!
INFRASTRUCTURE. I only used the pool and massage services, but I know from previous visits that there's also a gym: small (let's say compact), but well-equipped. My friend David has been using it for years and is very happy. However, I personally prefer swimming. The pool is shallow (1.20 m) and has two entry points (steps and a ladder), but after swimming, a strong smell of chlorine lingers on my skin (perhaps this is an individual effect), but it's best to bring a good shower sponge to wash away the smell. There are two types of steam rooms: a Turkish steam room and a Russian steam room. There's also an ice machine and a tropical shower. The changing rooms have good hair dryers and a swimsuit dryer. It's especially nice that the waste bins have sensors, meaning you don't have to touch them with your hands or even feet, which is extremely hygienic. To lock the lockers, you need a £1 coin, or you can ask for a special token at reception specifically in the spa. Cons: The changing room is very cold, honestly I don't even understand why it's so cold there.
FOOD. The breakfast food is very high quality, but monotonous: the same set of products every day: a full English breakfast (beans, eggs, sausages/bacon, fried tomatoes/mushrooms, potato croquettes), pastries, some fruit, yogurt, muesli, you can make toast, there is a small corner with gluten-free products. Very good coffee in the coffee machines.
LOCATION. Public transport does not go here, so, essentially, only by car. If you have a car, then you shouldn't have any problems. I went by taxi, and on the way back I had to look for a car for over an hour (no one wanted to go to this corner). If you also plan to use a taxi, then take this into account and allow more time to find a car.
AREA. Small, but beautifully decorated. There's plenty of space to sit (both alone and with friends), but you're unlikely to be able to run or log steps for your fitness tracker.
SUMMARY: A great vacation, expensive, but high-quality. It was worth the money.
Dreadful. Paid for a 60 minute massage and was showered and out the room after half an hour!! Don't waste your money
Booked a Spa day today- paid £86 for a 25min neck/shoulder/scalp massage and a 25 scrub. The therapist JO was the worst therapist I have ever had. She was 10mins late so I was called at 11:10. The entire massage was rushed in 15 mins, she did one side of my arm, didn’t do the other side. She rushed the entire appointment and the massage was cut short. She had finished my appointment at 11:45am. This was such a disappointing day. I paid £86 for a 35 treatment which is ridiculous. When I raised it with the reception, I got blank looks from 3 members of staff. Nothing was done.
The food for the spa day was atrocious. The chicken Caesar salad was disgusting. My mum had the halloumi salad which she was also extremely disappointing. The staff at the restaurant had no idea about what the menu consisted off and didn’t even bother to double check when we asked questions. The staff also said the chef/kitchen don’t have any olive oil for a vegetarian salad dressing.
Overall VERY POOR. Jo the therapist was unprofessional and very poor at her job. Don’t waste your money at this spa.
Went for a spa day, and frankly the extra star to make it 4 would go to the spa team in general.
Facilities: the space in general could do with a little bit of an upkeep, the changing rooms whilst pleasant- large shower cubicles, clean floors, good amenities it was notable whenever the men's opened into the pool area there was a strong smell of bodily fluids. Theres a pool, steam room and sauna, these were enjoyable but it could be noted some of the tiles were a bit dated and crumbly. Unlike some of the other Q hotels the spa here does not have a hot tub or heated beds.
The rooms in general for spa treatment could have done with a little bit of a clean up:
The spa lounge whilst having basic amenities: tea, coffee, chairs, just seemed a bit out dated and the loud crackling of the AC unit was far from relaxing.
For treatment: as I lay down on the massage table I looked up to see thick dusty cobwebs and thought to myself how am I going to relax thinking of cleaning that thing? Thankfully the spa treatment made me have my eyes closed and I did in the end relax. I would highly recommend their facials and scalp massage!
Food: in general it was okay, breakfast has some excellent variety and included poached eggs! However for lunch included in the spa day, the options were a little lackluster and most of the salad option was pretty much a plate of just huge chunks of tomatoes and cucumbers (no leaves to be seen)- there seemed to be less of a team around today so service was slow, and the lounge area the bartender didn't seem too sure of some of the tasks asked (a promoted drink with the measurements for serving on it was a bit of a challenge) however the staff were polite and the seating was comfortable.
Would I visit again? Possibly, if there was a good deal on their spa treatments, however I would acknowledge the food provision issue is not alone to this particular Q hotel. There is potential, and for a spa treatment in itself it was pleasant enough.
Beautiful gym, spa and pool.
