I visited The Wax Bar Morningside for a Fluffy Brow lamination treatment, having previously completed a patch test at the same salon with no adverse reaction. The salon has since confirmed in writing that the product formula had not changed.
Following the treatment I developed severe burns, significant swelling, and scarring to my face. The pain was considerable and the impact on my daily life lasted several weeks, leaving me with lasting skin damage.
What made this experience significantly worse was the post-treatment communication. Getting any meaningful response required persistent chasing, repeated emails, and giving up my own time to visit the salon — all while dealing with a painful injury to my face. At every stage I felt I was being managed rather than listened to, with the salon's priority appearing to be protecting their own position rather than genuinely addressing what had happened to me.
Throughout the process the salon maintained that correct procedure had been followed, offering no satisfactory explanation for why I had sustained the injuries I did following a treatment I had safely had before.
I would strongly urge anyone considering treatments here to think carefully, and to be aware of what to expect should anything go wrong. The standard of aftercare and complaint handling fell far below what anyone should experience, particularly when dealing with a facial injury.

Toma did my nails today at the refurbished Wax Bar Morningside. The salon is stunning with blush pink upholstery and the shop now looks so much bigger. Smells amazing. Complementary hot and cold drinks
Toma was a perfectionist. Friendly. Chatty but above all professional. Its nice to see staff being friendly to each other so obviously a good place to work. Its really busy but surprising calm. Nothing worse than a noisy salon. Thank you Toma. Im delighted with my nails.

Left with a minor burn/ abrasion. I also noticed a lot of finer hairs. Other places tend to clean up those with a tweezer…. Not Emma. She did the waxing in the allocated time and that was her done. No attention to detail. Now I hope I don’t get a scar. I would’ve been better off going elsewhere. In the photo is proof. I also wish I’d seen the yelp reviews first as they’re a lot lower than these on Google. I would t have booked.

I cannot thank Toma enough for providing such an exceptional service. Not only she made my nails and my sister's nails look great for my wedding, she also sorted me out for threading my eyebrows with one of her colleagues. This was after another saloon I had a reservation with failed me miserably with their services. I can safely say that the Wax bar in Morning side is officially the place where I will be booking all my beauty treatments. I cannot recommend it enough.

I always use this salon for all my waxing! The staff are lovely and so friendly. Never feel awkward when it comes to intimate waxing, very professional✨ Also feel well looked after and I love the reward cards that they do too🙌🏻 Highly recommend if you are looking for a new beauty salon in town🩷
